On 20th of March, Zavod Voluntariat organized Diversity Party and invited everyone to celebrate Europe’s multiculturality. The event was held within the framework of the European Action Week Against Racism (17-25 March). It’s aim was to protest against all forms of racism and discrimination, and celebrate the diversity that enriches European societies.
Why Party? Because music reflects the customs, beliefs and realities of other cultures as well as historical times. It is a way to connect and discover the surrounding world.
The event was divided into 3 sections:
- Zavod Voluntariat and participants’ introduction.
- “Guess the song” game. The participants were split into 3 groups and they had to guess the singer and the song based on the lyrics, video and music. We had 5 songs per each category. The game put in evidence the text of the songs in order to show how diversity makes us stronger and richer culturally. The differences were visible in the music stiles, singers’ origins and their messages.
- We asked participants to share their thoughts about the music they listened to and to play other songs related to the topic.
After the event we encouraged the participants to stay for talks over coffee/tea and snacks.
